Negotiating Committees from both the Central Hockey League (CHL) and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) met on October 8th and 9th, 2008 in Denver, CO and through productive meetings were able to reach several transitional agreements on a number of items.

The Central Hockey League has recently agreed to meet PHPA representatives in Denver, CO on Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th in an effort to advance collective bargaining negotiations.

The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) announced today that they have declared a strike, effective immediately, against the Central Hockey League (CHL). This action comes after the League’s meaningless deadlines, broken promises, and hollow resources, which have all contributed to unproductive collective bargaining.

The ECHL and its member teams mourn the loss and express their condolences to the family and friends of Florida Everblades co-owner Thomas Thewes, who died Sunday at the age of 76 following a two-year battle with Leukemia.
