4th Annual Captain's Club Jersey Auction Dates Set

(St. Catharines, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA), in association with the ECHL, has announced that the 4th Annual Captains’ Club Jersey Auction to benefit the PHPA’s Membership Assistance Program (MAP) will soon be underway.





Game-worn jerseys from the Captain of each of the 25 teams in the Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League are being auctioned online at PHPA.com and ECHL.com, via eBay, beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Friday May 16th, until 9 p.m. ET on Sunday May 25th.





The Captain’s Club Jersey Auction was initiated in 2004 in an effort to help fund the Membership Assistance Program, which provides all PHPA Members and their families access to counseling services when dealing with personal, work-related, and behavioral health concerns.




“The Captains’ Club is a great way for fans and collectors alike to obtain a one-of-a-kind piece of game-worn memorabilia, while assisting all ECHL Players and their families through such a platform,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon.

    Former ECHL Player Baird Severely Burned In Accident

    The ECHL and its member teams extend their thoughts and prayers to former ECHL player Jason Baird, who is in stable condition at the Akron (Ohio) Burn Center after he was seriously burned on July 24 when the lawn mower he was riding exploded.

    Doug Messier was honoured at the Professional Hockey Players’Association’s Annual Meeting of Player Representatives, Saturday, June 14, 2008, as the inaugural recipient of the Curt Leichner Distinguished Member Award.
