The Professional Hockey Players' Association

Alumni Overview

Welcome to the PHPA Alumni Network — a free program created to support former PHPA members as they transition beyond their hockey careers. Alumni gain access to exclusive partner discounts, career mentorship, educational opportunities through the PHPA Guild, networking events, and ongoing personal and professional support.

From preferred rates with trusted partners to virtual Alumni Locker Room Calls featuring industry professionals, the PHPA Alumni Network helps former players stay connected, continue growing, and succeed in life after hockey.

The PHPA also invests in the lives of its members beyond the rink through The Professional Hockey Players’ Guild — a comprehensive resource initiative designed to support players throughout every stage of their professional journey, providing assistance in education, career development, and health and wellness. Meanwhile, the Alumni Network supports former players as they transition into post-hockey careers by providing access to resources, contacts, and corporate partner programs.

Collective Bargaining Agreements

The ECHL and AHL CBAs outline the rules, benefits, and protections for players, including salary, travel, housing, and health coverage. They also establish how disputes between players, teams, and the league are resolved.

Mental Health

Free, confidential, 24/7 support service for players and their families, connecting them with trained professionals who can help with issues such as injury, stress, mental health, relationships, legal matters, or financial concerns.

The Guild

The Guild supports players at every stage of their career, offering help with education, career transitions, health and wellness, and exclusive perks—while also preparing them for life after hockey.
The Professional Hockey Players’ Association, through superior preparedness and experience, is committed to the enhancement and protection of Players’ rights.
