(Niagara Falls, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of five (5) players to the 2021-22 PHPA Executive Committee.
Kevin Czuczman (Iowa Wild), Garrett Mitchell (Rockford IceHogs) and Nelson Nogier (Manitoba Moose) will join Cameron Gaunce, Dillon Simpson, and Brett Sutter on the American Hockey League Executive while Spencer Asuchak (Allen Americans) and Shawn Szydlowski (Fort Wayne Komets) will serve alongside Jake Flegel, Josh Holmstrom, and Justin Taylor to comprise the ECHL Executive.
“These mature and dedicated leaders who comprise the Executive Committee are integral to the successful operation of the PHPA and I look forward to working closely with each of them as we collectively navigate through this pandemic and help ensure a safe 2021-22 season,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon. “I would be remiss if I did not thank and recognize outgoing Executive members Chris Breen, Steven Kaunisto, Vincent LoVerde, Nathan Paetsch, and Riley Weselowski for the leadership and guidance they have provided over the years, especially during the past 19 months, which have been some of the most difficult our sport has ever endured.”
Members of the PHPA Executive Committee provide direction and oversight in dealing with various matters of importance to the PHPA and its Membership. Elected Executives may serve three (3) seasons before having to be re-elected. Players appointed by the Executive Director serve a one (1) year term before having to be elected.

Two players have been suspended for 20 games for violating the terms of the AHL/PHPA Performance Enhancing Substance Program.
