(Niagara Falls, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce the addition of five (5) players to the 2018-19 PHPA Executive Committee.

Dillon Simpson (Cleveland Monsters) and Brett Sutter (Ontario Reign) who were elected as Alternates at the 2018 Annual Meeting of Player Representatives in June along with Andrew Campbell (Rockford IceHogs) who was appointed by the PHPA Executive Director in the absence of further elected Alternates will join Chris Breen (Providence Bruins), Vincent Loverde (Toronto Marlies), and Travis Morin (Texas Stars) as the American Hockey League Executive.

Steven Kaunisto (Tulsa Oilers) and Winston Day Chief (Wheeling Nailers) who were also elected as Alternates at the 2018 Annual Meeting of Player Representatives will serve alongside Zach Miskovic (Indy Fuel), Jamie Schaafsma (Fort Wayne Komets), and Riley Weselowski (Rapid City Rush) to comprise the ECHL Executive.

Members of the PHPA Executive Committee are elected from all Player Representatives attending the Association’s Annual Meeting of Player Representatives and provide direction and oversight in dealing with various matters of importance to the PHPA and its Membership.  Elected Executives may serve three (3) seasons before having to be re-elected.  Players appointed to the Executive Committee serve a one (1) year term before having to be elected.

“The Executive Committee is an integral aspect to the successful operation of the PHPA and I look forward to working closely with these proactive young professionals, especially as we enter negotiations with the American Hockey League towards a successor collective bargaining agreement,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon.  “I would be remiss if I did not thank and recognize outgoing members Mike McKenna, Colton Saucerman, Darryl Bootland, Bracken Kearns, Michael Leighton, and Joel Martin for the leadership and guidance they have provided over the past several years.”
