The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) and BioSteel are pleased to announce the PHPA – BioSteel Performer of the Month Award recipients for the month of January.
Rocco Grimaldi of the Milwaukee Admirals receives the BioSteel Performer of the Month Award for his high performance and consistency during the month of January. Grimaldi led the Admirals offensively, recording 16 points in ten games, including a four-game point streak where he registered 12 points (six goals + six assists). The Admirals forward currently sits 20th in league scoring and was named AHL Player of the Week earlier this month.
In the ECHL, Jake Smith of the Iowa Heartlanders receives the BioSteel Performer of the Month Award for demonstrating high performance and consistent play after recording at least one point in 11 of his 13 games throughout January. The 24-year old enjoyed a 10-game point streak, where he notched 19 points (nine goals + 10 assists). This strong showing by Smith also earned him the ECHL Rookie of the Month Award.
