(Niagara Falls, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) is pleased to announce the launch of a formal Alumni Network to assist current and former PHPA Members with their transition to a post hockey career. The PHPA Alumni Network will provide career transition support and mentorship through a network of former PHPA Members, while providing former players with access to corporate partner programs and product offerings available to current PHPA Members.
The Alumni Network, available to any former PHPA Member, will be led by Rob Striar, Principal and Founder of M Style Marketing, whose company specializes in developing strategy and partnership programs into world class brands and revenue generating opportunities.
“The PHPA Alumni Network is intended to be an outreach program to support all players who were at one point PHPA Members who are now transitioning to another phase of their life,” said Striar. “Many former players who have since built successful careers are eager to help and support members of the hockey family. Former players now truly become PHPA Alumni and will be provided with a much needed resource throughout their post-playing career.”
“We are excited about the launch of the PHPA Alumni Network especially as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary,” said PHPA Executive Director Larry Landon. “This program will serve as an extension of our successful Career Enhancement Program and is another added value we are able to offer current and former PHPA Members.”
Any current or former player seeking to join the PHPA Alumni Network may register here.
The PHPA officially launched its 50th Anniversary on June 17th, 2017 in Orlando, Florida during the Association’s Annual Meeting of Player Representatives. The celebrations continue throughout the 2017-18 season with various events and initiatives including a 50th Anniversary video, a 6-page feature in The Hockey News, as well as the raffle of a custom built Harley-Davidson motorcycle with all proceeds split between 5 charitable causes.
