The Professional Hockey Players’ Association is heartbroken by the sudden passing of former Member Adam Johnson. The 29-year-old sustained a fatal injury while playing for the Nottingham Panthers of the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League on Saturday evening.
Johnson turned pro with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins in 2017 after playing two years of colllege hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth. The following season he made his NHL debut with the Pittburgh Penguins.
Johnson played in 257 AHL games split between the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, the Ontario Reign and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He also appeared in a tital of 13 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The native of Hibbing, Minn., played overseas in Germany and Sweden before joining the Nottingham Panthers this season.
Johnson will be forever treasured in our hearts and memories.
