(Niagara Falls, ON) The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA), in association with The MeiGray Group and the ECHL, has announced that the 9th Annual Captains’ Club Jersey Auction which benefits the ECHL Health and Welfare Trust Fund is now underway.

Game worn Captain sweaters from each of the twenty-three (23) teams which comprised the Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League during the 2012-13 season are being auctioned online at www.auction.nhl.com, beginning at 6 pm ET on Tuesday October 15th, and ending at 9 pm ET on Thursday, October 31st, 2013.

The Captain’s Club Jersey Auction was initiated in 2004 and helps support the ECHL Heath and Welfare Trust Fund, which provides PHPA Members and their families with access to counseling services when dealing with personal and behavioral health concerns as well as assistance to players who may be suffering a hardship.

“The Captains’ Club jersey auction is a great way for fans and collectors alike to obtain a piece of game-worn memorabilia, while directly assisting ECHL players and their families,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon.

“It’s an honor to be working again with the PHPA,” said MeiGray President Barry Meisel.  “These are great jerseys of some of the ECHL’s great leaders…and for a very worthy cause.”
