An item brought forth by the Executive Committee at the 2012 PHPA Annual Meeting of Player Representatives was the need to update PHPA.com – both the public domain as well as the Players’ Only website – into a state-of-the-art, more user friendly website. Players felt the current design was too heavily text based, and lacked the functionality required to adequately service the PHPA Membership.

The Executive Committee wanted the ability to compare player salaries, view recent contract signings, as well as see team by team payroll breakdown by player, among many other things.

Fast forward almost one year. The new Players website is now fully integrated with the PHPA database, providing PHPA Members with access to more information than ever before including contract comparables, recent signings, and team information. The public domain has been updated to reflect a more modern look and functionality including cleaner graphics and more exposure for PHPA corporate partners.

The new Players site was unveiled at the recent PHPA Annual Meeting of Player Representatives in Orlando, Florida, inclusive of a comprehensive presentation by the developer which was met with positive feedback from the PHPA Player Reps.

“PHPA Members now have a completely different and much enhanced user experience when navigating through PHPA.com,” said Darryl Dionne, PHPA Director of Communications and Business Development. “We have incorporated feedback from past and present PHPA Members, as well as feedback based on the original NHLPASource design to provide PHPA Members with unprecedented access to salary, contract, and other statistical information.”

“It is challenging at times to effectively organize various pieces of information for the 3 different leagues in which we represent, each with a separate Collective Bargaining Agreement and benefits programs. However, the new website design will aid in the outlay of information, providing players with an easier means to extract information.”

Work soon begin on a PHPA mobile application, giving the PHPA the ability to enhance communication with PHPA Members, while providing players with secure and easy access to information from the convenience of their mobile device.
