Tuesday, August 21^st, 2018 marked the official close to the Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) 50^th Anniversary celebrations with a successful PHPA Golf Classic event and draw for the custom built PHPA Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The 2018 PHPA Golf Classic Presented by Meridian was held at the pristine St. Catharines Golf and Country Club which hosted over 150 golfers including a number of current and former National Hockey League (NHL), American Hockey League (AHL), and ECHL players golfing as celebrity guests.  

The tournament featured four of the NHL trophies on display courtesy of the Hockey Hall of Fame and ECHL, a silent and live auction of autographed hockey memorabilia and one-of-a-kind experiences, and saw the Hockey Canada Foundation, USA Hockey Foundation, Heartland Forest, Staal Family Foundation, and Hockey Fights Cancer benefit with a donation of $25,000 each thanks to proceeds from the tournament and Harley-Davidson draw.

Alex Mikulovich  became the proud owner of the PHPA Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  The bike built by Quinn Custom Motorcycles in Welland, Ontario has been on display at several events over the past year including the Rogers Hometown Hockey event in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Friday the 13^th event in Port Dover, Ontario, the Hockey Canada Foundation Gala in London, ON, and the North American International Motorcycle Supershow in Toronto, ON where it won Best in Class in the bagger category.

The PHPA Golf Classic generated tremendous corporate and community support from partners such as Meridian as the event’s Presenting Sponsor, MStyle Marketing who developed the Golf Classic logo, Brand Blvd for providing the PHPA branded apparel, Tidal Health Solutions for sponsoring the lunch, as well as Autoline Toyota in Niagara Falls, Coventry Transportation, Adidas, the NHLPA, AHL, ECHL, NHL, and many others whose generous contributions helped ensure the event left a lasting impression for all those who participated.

Before the end of the night, the PHPA rolled it’s 50^th Anniversary video for all attendees, which featured comments from Gary Bettman, Don Fehr, Lou Lamoriello, Dave Andrews, and other key influencers throughout the hockey community.  PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon made his closing remarks, including presentations to the five charitable beneficiaries.

“On behalf of all past, present, and future PHPA Members, I sincerely thank all those who contributed to the success of our 50^th Anniversary celebrations, and look forward to building upon this success as we head into the 2018-19 season and beyond,” added Landon.
