The Impact of Sleep Science on professional hockey players

April 12, 2016

Recently, I interviewed international sleep and fatigue expert, Pat Byrne, who has worked with professional athletes and sports leagues including the NHL, MLB and NFL.  Sleep Science is a critical field of knowledge that has not received the attention it warrants, and according to Byrne, the role of sleep is instrumental in an athlete’s performance and reaction time, and can be the difference between a player making the NHL or not.

Even more importantly, understanding sleep and its correlation to everyday life is something everyone should be educated about. Sleep is something most people take for granted and compromise on, however, the ramifications of sleep can be the difference between how you feel each day, your health and even between injury and death.

This following short video piece introduces the study of sleep, its application in professional hockey, and what athletes need to know when it comes to their sleeping habits: https://vimeo.com/162313547
